The Oregon Food Bank does an amazing job of managing and distributing huge quantities of food to those in need and we love being a part of that mission. Each time we build a new home through our company Satterberg Construction Corporation, we use our open houses as food drop locations. We've found providing this opportunity is such a great way to get neighborhoods involved in giving and gives the community a reason to not only come check out the home but to do some good while they're at it.
New Avenues is a cause that is extremely near and dear to our hearts. This amazing organization tackles the huge issues of youth homelessness and its root causes by providing support resources to local youth in need. They also work to take preventive action for youth that are at risk of becoming homeless. With so many reasons for a young person to end up in this situation, and none of them positive, we want to inspire young men and women to know that they can conceive, believe and achieve even when it seems like there's no light at the end of the tunnel. With a personal connection to this organization's story and cause, we encourage everyone to get involved in any way they can. Fostering a positive mental attitude and providing opportunities for youth to escape the pitfalls homelessness often leads to means a brighter future for our entire community.
We'll admit it, we're suckers for furry, adorable, four-legged creatures. We all have pets and want everyone to experience the happiness and intimate bond that is pet ownership. Multnomah County Animal Shelter is an open door shelter and also handles abandoned pets, animal abuse investigation, dog and cat licensing and lost and found services. Click the button below to see pet's that are currently up for adoption or to learn how to get involved.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. It is thought to be an immune-mediated disorder, in which the immune system incorrectly attacks healthy tissue in the CNS. MS can cause many symptoms, including blurred vision, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue, problems with memory and concentration, paralysis, blindness and more. These problems may come and go or persist and worsen over time.* When MS came into our life via a close friend, we wanted to get involved in the fight. This bike ride takes place on 8/5/16 - 8/7/16 and the proceeds go towards helping fund support programs, services and research for those who experience MS everyday.
